1 Cup chopped baby peas sprout
¾ cup moong dhal
1 Onion, finely chopped
2 Tomato chopped
2 large cloves of Garlic
1-2 Green Chillies
1 inch Ginger
half tsp Tamarind Paste
1 tbsp Jaggery or Brown Sugar
Coriander Leaves
Salt to taste
- MASALA ITEMS NEEDED :
1 tbsp Dhania/Coriander Powder
½ tsp Haldi/Turmeric Powder
1 tsp Garam Masala
- FOR TADKA:
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
1 tsp Jeera
1 tsp Fenugreek Seeds
A pinch of Asafoetida
1 tbsp Oil
PROCEDURE
- Cook the moong dhal in advance with a pinch of turmeric powder and a teaspoon of water in pressure cooker . Keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add mustard seeds to it. When mustard seeds start to pop add fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds, and hing and fry .
- Add the baby peas sprout
- Add chopped onions and garlic,ginger and fry them for about 2 minutes, on medium flame.
- Mix in chopped tomatoes and let them cook for 3 mins.
- Add coriander powder and turmeric powder and give it a good stir for a minute.
- Add around 1 cup of water cups of water . Mix in tamarind paste, jaggery and half of coriander leaves and bring the whole mix to boil.
- Add toor dal and mix them well. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
- After opening the pressure cooker mash them nicely.
- Switch on the flame and add coriander leaves, and salt to taste
- You can add water if you find the dal is too thick.te.
