BEANS PARUPPU USILI

 Beans Paruppu usili is a traditional south indian dish which is most often seen in South Indian Celebrations like Marriage , House warming ceremony etc.
This paruppu usili is done using beans .
It can also be done using other vegetables like Green capsicum, bitter guard, drumstick leaves,banana flower etc.
This recepie will serve 2 members.


INGREDIENTS
Half kg beans ( chopped)
1  small glass of toor dhal (soaked in water for about 20 mins)
mustard seeds
jeera
oil
turmeric
chenna dhal
urad dhal
2 to 3 green chillies
1 red chilly
salt according to taste
corinader leaves
curry leaves

PROCEDURE
STEP 1:
Take a pan and allow it to heat add mustard seeds let it splutter.
Now add curry leaves,chenna dhal,urad dhal and red chilly .Fry for two minutes add asafoetida.
Put the chopped vegetables ,salt,turmeric fry pour some water and cover the lid allow it to boil.
After 5 to 6 mins check wheather the beans have boiled and fry till all the water gets evaporated .
Now switch off the stove and let it cool.

STEP 2:
Take the soaked toor dhal put some turmeric and allow it to STEAM in the cooker for 2 to 3 whistles.( steaming procedure in cooker: take a bowl with holes and put the dhall with turmeric.when you keep in side the cooker first keep a bowl half filled with water on top of the bowl keep the steaming vessel .Cover the cooker and allow it to cook for 2 to 3 whistles)
  
Alternate way u can even stem the dhal using the idly pan for 10 to 15 mins.

Once the dhal is steamed allow it to cool for min half an hour.
Now take a mixie jar put the steamed toor dhal,green chillies ,coriander leaves ,jeera and grind it without adding water.
It will come like a powder .
Now add that in the pan which has the cooked beans and continue to fry on a slow flame for about 5 mins.

Now your PARRUPU USILI is ready to eat.
