Venpongal ia a traditional and an authentic SouthIndian BreakFast which is served with sambhar and chutney.
Let us see how to make this pongal in the ricecooker.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup raw rice
quarter cup moong dhal
3 spoons jeera
2 spoons pepper
curry leaves
asafoetida
2 green chillies
oil
cashew nuts
ghee
PROCEDURE
Soak the raw rice and the moong dhal in a vessel for an hour
Take a tadka pan pour some oil add jeera,pepper,curryleaves,chopped ginger,green chillies,asafoetida and mix well.
Keep it seperately.
Take the rice cooker pan pour some water and keep the vessel in which you are going to make the pongal.
Now add the rice and moong dhal mixture and add water , tadka mixture and salt .
Switch on the rice cooker and wait till the switch reaches warm.
When the cooker shows warm remove the vessel and using the masher mash the rice slightly.Once again take the tadka pan add some ghee and some cashew nuts .
Fry and garnish it in the pongal and mix well.
Eat your pongal with sambhar or chutney.
