Sambhar sadham ia a traditional South Indian one pot meal which is a combination of veggies and dhal.
Lets see how to make this sambhar rice in an authentic way.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED
( The ingredients mentioned is for 1 cup of rice .You can alter it according to the amount of rice required for cooking)
FOR MAKING PASTE
2 spoons of chenna dhal
2 spoons of dhaniya
3 dry red chillies
4 to 5 pieces of coconut
small onions or sambhar onions 10 nos ( If you do jnot have sambhar onion you can use 2 medium sized big onions)
OTHER INGREDIENTS REQUIRED
Tamarind water ( thick water less than a quarter cup)
1 spoon readymade sambhar powder
chopped veggetables of your choice like beans , carrots, peas, drum stick , brinjal etc ( 1 cup of mixed veggies as mentioned)

salt
PROCEDURE
Take a pressure cooker using little oil fry all the ingredients as mentioned for making paste .Allow it to cool down and make a fine paste.Take pressure cooker pour some oil add mustard seeds, curry leaves , hing fry for 2 mins add the chopped veggies ,tomatoes, grinded paste, tamarind water salt, readymade sambhar powder , boiled toor dhal and cook for 2 whistles.Open and check the consistency of the sambhar.If it is very watery allow it to boil till it becomes thick.Now add the raw rice with 3 cups of water into the sambhar and cook for 5 whistles.Drizzle with some ghee on the top before you serve the sambhar rice.
