traditional poorna kozhukattai ( vinayagar chaturthi special )

Poorna kozhikattai is one of the traditional sweet which is prepared on the occasion of vinayagar chaturthi. 
In Tamil Nadu usually they make variety of poornams like paruppu pooranam , coconut pooranam , ellunpooranam etc .

In this I have posted how to make poorna kozhukattai with coconut and jaggery. 

As I have already posted how to make kozhukattai using the store bought rice flour , now Im posting the recepie how to make in a traditional way as how to make kozhukattai batter , choppu etc.

For the filling of poornam recepie you can refer to the recepie heading " soft poorna kozhukattai " under the tag sweets and festivals.



 Ingredients to make the kozhukattai batter

1 cup raw rice 
Salt a pinch
Oil

Procedure

Soak the raw rice for a minimum of 2 hours.
In a wet grinder or a blender make it into a fine rice puree.




Add little salt .
Take a pan pour some oil allow it to heat now add the rice puree.
Stir continuously , once it starts thickening stir fast.
It becomes a thick batter . Now cover it and allow it to cool down completely. 



 Take the batter And make it into balls.
Use oil while making balls so that the batter doesnt stick to the hands.
Take a plastic sheet or baking paper. Apply some oil.
Take a ball keep it in the middle and cover it with another  baking paper.




 Now take a tumbler and press gently in the middle , sides and make it into a thin batter.



Now keep the pooranam  in The middle and cover the sides. 



Keep it in a steamer or in a idly pot , steam it once it appers shining remove it and enjoy the sweet.
